About The Site

A place to find sensible, cool-headed advice about preparing your self, your family, and your household for a wide range of possible difficulties. We run no ads, sell no products, and have no trackers or analytics running. It's run as a not-for-profit hobby project.

Is it prepping?

The trouble with ‘prepping’ is that it conjures images of gas masks and bugout bags. It’s all too easy to get sucked into that mentality and find yourself equipped with tarps and hammocks, but no spare lightbulbs.

The reality is that in this country we just don’t have large tracts of wilderness to bug out to, and even if we did it’s a silly idea to bug out if all that’s happened is your fridge has packed up.

This site is an attempt to redress the balance. It’s not about being prepared for a zombie apocalypse, it’s just about being reasonably prepared.

About The Author

I live in the West Mids with my wife, our son, and our dog Millie. I work part time as a web developer, and the rest of my time I split between family time, a fledgling eBay business, and other hobbies (like this!). I was also invited to be a moderator the 48% Preppers facebook group (have since stepped down as the group is now closed). If you’re looking for “Why I should listen to this guy” I can’t really give you a good reason. I’m not here to get political or to sell you anything, I’m just trying to share some thoughts on how best to get prepared, as Jack Spirko says, “if times get tough or even if they don’t”.
